If it is not raining tomorrow I ll be back there :)
It has been a few weeks since I have done any more digging in the WH camp where I found the Waffenmeister Erkennungsmärke, but I spent the whole day out there today. I searched through the rest of the dumping pit and it was difficult because it held mostly barbed wire. It looks like they had dug a hole, thrown in some rubbish, crates, clothes, bits and pieces, then dumped a whole bunch of barbedwire in the middle of the hole and set fire to it all. It didn`t hold the hoard of kool stuff I had hoped for, but it was a few nice relics between all the scrap.. MP40 Speed loader. Candleholder or shotglass made from a signal flare. Part of adoor from a vehicle,It was sadly in very bad condition. tnt. I am happy this little jar survived between all the metals and rocks. Another little porcelain jar. "Dralle". A beer stein. German condom, with a nail embedded :) Candleholder. For car battery I think. I also found some nice Doramad toothpaste tubes. I took many hours to search through the pit, and I started feeling it in my knees so I decided to check around the pit another day. I filled it all back and went detecting towards the car. It didnt take many minutes before I had a nice signal from the Fisher and had to check it out. It was a rather large fireplace where they had thrown all kinds of stuff in the flames. I spent another few hours searching through it. Here I found three or four tent pegs, signal flare candleholder, lots of pioneer wire, some leather bits of Y- and D straps, horse harness and a Heer beltbuckle . Several Mg ammo belts peeked out from under the grass and another flare casing turned into shotglass. One of the last bits I found was a nice brass LiG casing which will look good when cleaned up. If it is not raining tomorrow I ll be back there :) Tent pegs. Signal flare candleholder and a fuse or detonator box. Unfinished "trenchart" box. Mg ammo belts. Heer belt buckle with parts of the belt. Pioneer wire. LiG casing, stamped 1936.
