The spring of 2013 my friend Sanita saw to it that I was invited to a Latvian group that is working with recovering fallen soldiers from ww2. It is estimated that 80000+ from both sides is still missing in the fields and forests of the old battlefields The group is called Legenda and has been doing this work for about 20 years. They work closely with Latvian, Russian and German authorities and War Grave Commissions. I feel very privileged to have been invited to this group and do this important work together with them. Here I will post updates from my expeditions with Legenda. Here is a link to their newly opened blog: http://kurlandlegends.wordpress.com/ and their facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/pages/Military-archeology-Legenda-Latvia/224779244335847

Sometimes tractors is used to help us dig as it would be quite time consuming opening up bunkers by hand. The drivers is highly professional and I am often impressed by their skills.

Still, when it comes down to it, this is the prefered tool.Shovels with strong plastic handles.

Meeting this group of diggers, being given a chance to participate in their work, has really given a new perspective on things, so I`ll direct a big Thanks to them all:)
