Relic Art

I like to make things from old relics, rather than letting them rot away in a corner or be forgotten about in a storage. I try to display them in a somewhat artistic way so that they can serve a purpose as a decoration and a conversation piece, and I like to make lamps from relics.

Part of a PPSh submachinegun barrel damaged by a detonation. Found on the battlefields of Kurland, Latvia.

Helmet Displays

Whenever I get my hands on a fragment of a battle damaged helmet, the chances are big that it will end up on a frame with a zeltbahn backing.

Pomz Mine Lamp

I had fun making this lamp from a Pomz-2 mine found in the Kurland Kessel. I made the groundwork on its base to look like a forest floor.

Wall displays from relic weapon parts

Instead of piling this in a corner to be covered by rust and dust I cleaned and preserved the items and fixed them to prepared wooden planks so they can be displayed on the walls of the room.

Sharpshooter Badge

Outside Narvik I dug up this beautiful Norwegian Army Sharpshooters Badge, and later gently attached it to a small plank together with two deactivated 6.5 mm rifle rounds.

Red Army helmet lamp

A relic helmet placed atop an old Ikea table lamp became a much cooler new lamp.

Memorial

Made in memory of POWs who lost their lives in german camps in Northern Norway.

Red Cross

It was the only thing left intact of a medic pony fur rucksack which had been tossed away sometime in spring or summer 1945. I placed it in press under some heavy books as it dried, and later mounted it in this frame with zeltbahn backing.

Dissected M24 relics

Rotted and rusted german M24 stick grenades got new life after cleaning and preserving. I fixed them to some black planks and tadaaam, sexy new wall decorations for the Geek Cave.
