I dug out parts of stoves crafted from horseshoes and fuel barrels and one lucky signal was a pair of german tent pegs. After four hours strolling around the forest and digging in the shrubberies I began to realize that not wearing a jacket had been a mistake. First of all my neck was burnt to crisp by the sun, and then my arms.. they were kinda pulsating and glowing from tons of tiny cuts, scratches and insect bites. I had had enough for one day, but just as that thought ran through my head I had another good signal from the old detector. Another nice little dump of relics was partly frozen, it was also wet and muddy so I had to be very careful not to miss any good bits. Soon I found round muddy shapes. Coins! Several of them. I removed a little bit more of the top soil and out fell a small EKM pouch, but instead of having the ID tag inside it was filled with coins, German and Finnish ones. A nice pioneer axe and an even nicer looking first world war Göffel/spork came with us home as well.
It has been a week since the last trip now, so I am thinking to go back and continue with that little dump tomorrow as Im sure it must have thawed more by now. I am hoping the missing EKM is there waiting to be found :D
Thanks for reading, and enjoy your week :)
