Finally 2020 is coming to an end and I for one is hoping for a much better 2021. It has been a strange year and because of lockdowns, closed borders and quarantines, the International Legenda team sadly couldn`t travel and meet with the rest of Legenda in Latvia. I guess we are all crossing our fingers for that the upcoming summer expedition will be possible to arrange and that the world will return to "normality".
The Latvian part of the team has tried to be as busy as possible and has gotten lots done. Hundreds of soldiers from all sides of both World Wars have been found and recovered, several of them have been successfully identified. A few reburials has been arranged, reuniting lost soldiers with their comrades, and giving families and relatives a final resting place for their loved ones, and also a lot of live and unexploded ordnance have been removed from fields and forests.
Legenda have seen a rise in support from the public, the followers, and have also gotten a couple of sponsors : Minelab, Tero-Vido and Deutsches Wehrkundearchiv. A big thanks goes out to all you supporters!
So here is to a continued success and a better 2021!!
-Happy New Year!!

Fieldgraves having been found and in the process of being opened.
On a field a shell crater had been made into a massgrave after the battles. Lots of soldiers had been thrown in together with various equipment and battle discards.
Soldiers remains are being put into body bags and labeled after exhumation, waiting to be transported to the headquarter to be analyzed.
Specialists are carefully analyzing fragile paper labels with the personal information of a Red Army soldier. These were sometimes kept in small bakelite sylinders carried by the soldiers.
Reburial of fallen soldiers.
