This season I found a few examples of wartime footwear. In what once was a German military camp I discovered a fallen shed. I snuk under the collapsed little house and found some nice items. On a nail on the corner post was two pair of German soldiers boots hanging. The boots was in pretty good condition so I was happy with that find. The other pair was a bit more worn and was missing the laces. When digging a few dumping pits I also found several boots and shoes. Most of them was totally rotten but a few finds I couldn`t resist bringing home. The top one is the same type as the ones from the shed. The middle one is the sole of a Gebirgsjäger boot. A bit more heavy-duty on the hobnails. The last sole is more grim. It is a wooden sole from a POW shoe/clog. Often these was just this,a sole fastened to the foot with a piece of string or leather, and it must have been horrible to walk with.
