Today it is Winter Solstice and the Yuletide is upon us again. Here in the house of HobbyHistorica it will be a calm and cozy celebration.

I have a couple of weeks more or less off work, and am planning to use these days to catch up on some diorama making since the nice and snowy holiday weather seems to have been replaced with a grey sky, warm and rainy days, so I guess I can forget about any skiing.

A corner of the workbench is cluttered with a few unfinished figure projects which I need to paint and put on bases, and I have been preparing bits and parts for two dioramas which should become interesting eyecatchers once done.

I also have a pile of relics from this season to sort and clean, thereamongst the two last helmets I found. I am looking forward to get the crud and rust off those as it might be hiding decals, names or wintercamo.

So before I am diving into a glass of red now, I would like to wish you all a wonderful Jōl and a great New Year :)

Below I added some christmas related relics from my collection, and from a museum I used to work at, the amazing Lofoten Krigsminne Museum :)

Some xmas relics found here north. The star was found next to a gebirgsjäger barrack and probably adorned the christmas tree the soldiers had in december 1944. The large heart was found near the same barrack and I think it was used to produce some gingerbread cookies. Lastly the birch boxes were filled with candy and tobacco and given as a gift to soldiers in 1943.
