The Nazi regime brought a large number of Prisoners of War to Norway during the war. These POWs were set to construct roads, railroads and coastal fortifications and many of them died under horrible conditions and brutal guard. There is many stories to be told about this and some of them you can find here on my website.
Many locals still remember those times, and the memorials and cemeteries is often visited throughout the season but in wintertime these sites is mostly seen by the moose, rabbits, foxes and on my trip there today I saw tracks from all those but not from any humans.
I placed two lights on the Yugoslav partizan graves and one on the memorial for the Russian soldiers and anyone driving by on the road will see these little lights flickering and hopefully send a thought to the poor guys who lost their lifes so far from their loved ones.
