This is a 1/12 scale resin bust of a Viking Warrior I painted a while ago. It is produced by MJ Miniatures and it is a very nice casting. No bubbles or flash and only a few mold lines to remove. As I always do when putting together a resin figure I drill holes in the attachment points and add a small lenght of wire for extra strenght before gluing it with epoxy.
Before painting it I primed the whole figure and inspected it for any mistakes. The rest was painted with acrylics from Vallejo Model Color and it was weathered and detailed with oils.
All in all a very fun little project to do and Im glad I bought two of this kit so I will have a go at the other one soon.

Sturmovik Shotglasses

The latest project from the workbench is a crate with two shotglasses. The shotglasses was made by my friend Matt McDermott. They are 23mm casings from the Vy-23 machinecannon which was used on the Soviet IL-2 Sturmovik plane during WW2. The casings was found on the Kurland battlefields and we decided to keep them unpolished as the original patina really brings the history to life. The edge is polished and the insides sandblasted.
The crate was made by me using balsa wood and acrylics keeping it in a military style.
We will make a limited run of these for sale, and will then include a small piece of a real IL-2 Sturmovik which was downed over the battlefield. This first crate will come with a piece which probably is from the planes skin. It has holes from rivets and two types of paint. The size of the crate is 10,5x7x5cm.

I completed the torture device miniature project, although I will make two "bonus" pieces later on, the big blade from the movie "The Pit and the Pendulum" and a 1/35 scale diorama scene of a torture chamber.
Here is the last items I made for this project, first up The Cross.

The Iron Maiden. I had another idea for this one which I tried to make from clay, but it didn`t work out and I was out of clay, so I went for option b. I had an old candy box shaped as a coffin which was perfect. The spikes is toothpicks and the other details is winebottle foil.

Finally the last build, The Coffin, where most victims of the inquisitors hands ended up. Built of balsa wood and painted with thinned mixes of brown and grey acrylic paint.
