Disney vs Hitler

Some years ago this story was in the news around the world sparking debates in collector forums. A collector had found several paintings of Disney characters supposedly painted by Hitler. I am not going to claim if they are real or fake, but I worked for this collector in his museum for a while and got the story first hand.
This is a experienced collector and he opened his collection as a museum back in 1996. He is always on the look out for interesting objects and one day he saw a framed painting on an auction. This was said to have been painted by Hitler, but as it is so much fakes  noone had bought it and it wasn`t a high price for it either. He took the chance and bought it, never really believing it was something else than just a good fake.
When the parcel arrived he inspected the framed painting and wanting to have a closer look at the painting and the paper he opened the back of the frame that was sealed with brown paper tape. Four sheets of paper fell out as he removed the backing and his heart skipped a few beats when he saw well known Disney figures.
The first thing he did when he had settled down was to check everything under blacklight but there was no reaction and having a huge library he found all his books on Hitlers art and started studying and comparing the style. Other experts was consulted and paper, paint and style all fitted with the theory and hope this was Adolfs work.
Of all the things in this museum I find these pieces of paper to be the most interesting of them all.
Have a look at them and make up your own mind. I have also linked to a couple of news articles about this find.

A 3rd Reich Xmas

12/14/2013

When the German people came under the nazi regime they was promised a "New Era". They would remove the ruling traditions and revive the old pagan ways mixed up with new nazi traditions. One of the things to go was the christian influence on christmas, that should not be allowed anymore. The symbols had to be switched with old norse and new nazi symbols which resulted in some quite bizarre decorations.
Some years ago I worked at a large ww2 museum. The director had been collecting a lot of this nazi christmas decorations which is very rare stuff as much of it was destroyed and denazified after the war. I often brought my camera to work and luckily I found all the pics on an old memorystick. So here it is, a few pics from when the moustached Grinch stole christmas some 70 years ago.

Recently a Japanese submarine sunk in 1946 was found. It was the "Hawaiʻi Undersea Research Laboratory"  that made the discovery. The I-400 is an unusally large sub which could carry aircraft.

Digger Diorama

12/3/2013

I am always cluttering up the workbench with a new project when I am mid-build on two-three other Projects, so why should this time be any different.. I want to make a little diorama of some diggers this time, I have had a tendency to build auto-biographical dioramas the last years. I haven`t made a final decision on the layout yet and I am still waiting for a few figures to arrive which I ordered for this dio. As a base I might use an old german butterbox which was found on a Kurland battlefield, since I dont have the lid for it I might as well put it to some use. The scene I have in mind is simple enough, two-three diggers in the process of recovering a soldier they have found. Just as I am typing this I`ve had a few other ideas, which might lead to this needing a bigger base than the butterbox,,we will see what happens.
Anyway, the scale will be 1/35 and here is a few pics of what I have gathered for this so far.
 The black bakelite butterbox base.
