The latest project from the workbench is a crate with two shotglasses. The shotglasses was made by my friend Matt McDermott. They are 23mm casings from the Vy-23 machinecannon which was used on the Soviet IL-2 Sturmovik plane during WW2. The casings was found on the Kurland battlefields and we decided to keep them unpolished as the original patina really brings the history to life. The edge is polished and the insides sandblasted.
The crate was made by me using balsa wood and acrylics keeping it in a military style.
We will make a limited run of these for sale, and will then include a small piece of a real IL-2 Sturmovik which was downed over the battlefield. This first crate will come with a piece which probably is from the planes skin. It has holes from rivets and two types of paint. The size of the crate is 10,5x7x5cm.
