A Saturday Dig

I had planned a sleep-in this Saturday. I had spent most of the night watching some TV series and went to bed very late. After a few hours sleep the phone rang and not thinking rationally I answered the call. It was from work, if I could come to work as one of the guys obviously wanted to spend the day in the sun instead of doing his job.  After work I didn`t really know what to do, so I got into my digger clothes and headed to the Org.Todt stables area. I started detecting a section I ve done little searching in yet and soon found a spot with very good signals. The place was between some trees and bushes and all the roots in the ground made it difficult to dig, but luckily I ve sharpened the Fiskars shovel so it easily cut through the pesky roots. Digging one of the signals I was sure I had found another Panzerfaust, the roots drove me almost into madness but after a while I could move the tube and get it out from the soil. Sad was my face when I realised it was a part from a horse drawn wagon... and this happened two more times during this dig. After a few hours the mossies started driving me insane so I put a few of the finds into the bag and evacuated and went home. I didn`t clear the spot so I have some more work to do there one of the days this week. This time there was mostly the all familiar horseshoes, chains, wires and rusted tins, but I did find an interesting cooking pan with a lid which I ve never seen before, a cup for the canteens the Germans used and a cigarette case.
