As it is VE Day me and the Girlfriend bought a flower and planted it on our local memorial over Soviet POWs who lost their lives in German captivity and were buried at this place. At this particular gravesite 12-14 (forgive me if I got this number wrong) Soviet POWs were buried.
Pr 20 November 1944 there were 10000+ Soviet POWs spread around on different camps in the area. Some camps were worse than other, but in a few of the worst camps only around 10-15% survived. Hundreds of POWs lost their lives and some of the graves and massgraves has still not been discovered.
